Give Away

Not everything that most of us tag as "old", "torn" or "boring" deserves to be trashed. Some of it can spread smiles to the people. If you are not able to resell old stuff, why not try donate it, rather trashing it to the landfill.

Why? When? and What?

Why?

It increases the life of a product before it piles up in a landfill. Its the best way of reuse, as the product life is enhanced in its original utility rather than being modified.

When?

We recommend an inventory discipline to be incorporated in our lives. For example, I have a discipline of not having more than ten t-shirts at a time. So if I want to get a new one, I have to give away an older one. This helps Environment in a way that,"I buy lesser textiles in order not to lose my favorite t-shirt" and minimizes carbon footprint caused by hoarding up.

What?

Any thing and everything from clothes, books, toys, stationery, appliances, gadgets etc. There is no end of giving away. Its good if you get a platform to sell your stuff. But if you can't, just check for the possibility of donating it to someone rather trashing it.

Stuff that can be given away

Toys often lose utility as the child grows up, and many kids often lose interest in toys very soon. Giving away toys is the best way of letting your kids smile light up the lives of others.

Textile pollution is one hidden problem that arises because of clothes hoarding. Donate your clothes to make space for new ones as it helps reduce textile supply and hence the planet.

Gone are the days when siblings used to share books over generations. Let revive up the tradition of lending books. Donate that cluster of old stationery which you are to lazy to refill.

If your heart is on that new cupboard that is on Sale. Why not donate the old one. Donate your old furniture before you buy a new one to help save your home to turn up into a junkyard and the planet too.
